There are many places to escape & adventure, whether walking or driving (a map has been provided in your Pod/Ship).

Below are just a few local destinations worth visiting:

Activities accessible by foot

From your Pod or Ship, you can walk to Station Beach and Rainbow Falls or take the iconic Great Ocean Walk track to the Lighthouse (about 2 hours) or Aire River (about 3 hours).

Beautiful destinations accessible by car
(within 1 hour from Sky Pods)

A short drive (about 10 km) takes you to the beautiful Blanket Bay (swimming beach), Crayfish Bay or Parker River. A longer drive (about 50 min) can take you to Triplet Falls Melba Gully or The Otway Fly. Returning via Binns Road takes you past the magnificent Redwoods. Continue back down to the Great Ocean Road and turn right on your way back to Cape Otway, stopping at Maits Rest which has a remnant rainforest. And just recently opened, Wildlife Wonders, which is 3km from Apollo Bay

Redwood Forest

A completely unique ecosystem - perfect to stop and enjoy a picnic or just a short stroll amongst the large trees.  The trees were planted in the 1930s by the State Forests Commission as an experimental logging plantation; however, they were never cut down and are now protected as part of the Great Otway National Park.

The forest area is eerily quiet, with the occasional bird or trickle from the river and has a completely different atmosphere to the rest of the Otways. As you travel along Binns Road, the area is signposted, and there is a small, unsealed car park area just off the road.

Cape Otway Lighthouse

Built in 1848, Cape Otway Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia and is considered the most significant.

Known as the ‘Beacon of Hope,’ it sits 90 metres above the Bass Strait.

From winter to spring, the lighthouse is a vantage point for land-based whale watching as migrating whales swim very close to shores.

Triplet Falls

Enjoy the history of this rainforest as you make your way around the 2km hour-long loop (there are some stairs - but it’s worth it). Look out for the giant Mountain Ash trees along the way and stop to take in the tranquil sounds and the crystal clear air. Some of these trees are estimated to be over 200 years old. After good rainfall, you will hear the falls long before you can see them.
